Understanding Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Dynamic lines are lines that appear or become more noticeable when you move your facial muscles; for example, when smiling, frowning or raising your eyebrows. Over time, repeated facial movement can contribute to these lines becoming more noticeable. When the face is relaxed, these lines may initially disappear or appear much softer.
Static lines are lines that remain visible even when your face is at rest. They can develop when dynamic lines become more established over time, alongside changes in the skin such as reduced collagen and elastin, decreased hydration and repeated exposure to environmental factors.
How the Face Changes With Age
Facial ageing is more than just changes in the skin. As we age, gradual changes occur across several layers of the face.
These can include:
Skin: Collagen, elastin and hydration levels gradually change, affecting firmness, texture and elasticity.
Fat: Facial fat compartments can change in size and position, altering facial contours and support.
Muscle: Repeated muscle activity contributes to the development and progression of expression lines.
Bone: Gradual changes to the underlying facial structure can influence the way the overlying tissues are supported.
Together, these changes can contribute to lines, wrinkles, changes in facial definition and shifts in the way light and shadow fall across the face.
It's More Than Just a Wrinkle
Fine lines and wrinkles are influenced by how your face moves, how your skin changes and how the structures beneath your skin change over time.
At Evara, we believe understanding these processes is an important part of making informed decisions about your skin and facial aesthetics. Your individual anatomy, skin, movement and concerns are all considered during a consultation.
